Putting Contest

A popular event with all golfers as everyone has a chance to win, no matter what skill level.  The contest is started and completed on our Putting Green prior to the outing tee time.  It is recommended for outings between 48 and 80 players to start 1 hour prior to tee off in order to complete the event.  For 80+ players, it is recommended that the contest be started 1½ hour prior to the outing tee time.  The Putting Contest begins with a Qualifying Round where the player hits 3 putts from approximately 8 feet straight uphill.  If the player misses all 3 putts, he is eliminated from the contest.  Once a player makes a putt in the Qualifying Round, he immediately goes to the second round where he gets one attempt from 6 feet right to left.  If it is missed, the player is eliminated.  If the player makes the putt, he immediately goes to the third round having an attempt with 1 putt to make a left to right 6 footer.  If the player makes that putt, he is in the finals, which occurs after every participant in the outing attempts the qualifying putt.  All finalists will putt off prior to the tee time from different distances, until a winner is determined.  The winner receives a Gift Certificate or Prize selected by the Outing Representative from the Pro Shop.  It is recommended that a minimum of $100 Gift Certificate be given to the winner to promote interest among participants.
*Note:  The final winner could also have a chance at winning a cash prize for holing a 50’ putt by purchasing insurance (recommended $5,000-$10,000 cash prize).

A $5.00 Entry Fee is a recommended charge per person.  A player may try as many times as he would like for an additional $5.00 fee each time.  Any money raised over the cost of the prize goes back to the Outing.  *Note:  The Outing Representative may want to include the fee in the tournament entry, or collect it at the Registration Table.  Chesapeake Bay Golf Club’s Professional staff will then need a list of participants.  The participants will show a ticket on the Putting Green.

Beat the Pro

A favorite among our Outings.  The event takes place on the 9th Hole for modified shotgun, or on the 18th Hole for full shotguns.  The par 3 is set up to measure approximately 150 yards.  The Outing Participant makes a wager and plays closest-to-the-pin against one of our Golf Professionals.  The player bets whatever amount he wants (generally $10-$50).  The fun part about this event is that the Outing Participant will select a card from a deck of cards that will determine what club the Golf Professional will use (for example:  cards 2-10 represent irons; Jack = 5 wood; One-Eyed Jack = Outing Participant can pick club; Queen = 3 wood; King = Driver; and Aces = Pro has freedom to select desired clubs).  If the professional wins, the outing participant receives his wager in a gift certificate.  If outing participant wins, he will double his money in a gift certificate.  The gift certificates can be redeemed for anything in the Pro Shop (example:  merchandise, greens fees, etc.).
